Yuken Teruya’s Trees

If you know you are going to go crazy during the January sales, here’s a brilliant way of recycling the paper bags. These tiny trees cut out of  paper bags are so intricate and realistic, it’s almost hard to believe they are hand-made.

Yuken Teruya is a Japanese artist and this series is called Notice-Forest. In each bag, the artist has cut the shape, branches and leaves of a tree he saw in his neighborhood or during a trip. These trees, although fragile looking and apparently protected by the bags they are cut out from, are actually the “pillars” that hold the bags up.
