Photographs of old people always trigger ambivalent feelings in my mind. On one side I appreciate the work of the photographer and am interested in the life of the sitter. On the other side though, I feel sad because of aging in general, and how it reduces everybody’s mobility and senses.
Anyway, this is a beautiful series by Hanna Lenz. Else (the lovely lady in the photos) was 97 years old when these photos were taken. She lives on her own in her apartment and used to enjoy reading all day long. Now though, her sight is too bad to be able to read, and she listens to the radio instead.
